HARADA Kaname, painter, scluptor, he was born in Osaka in 1961, but he lives and works in Nara. He studied Art Education in Osaka Kyoiku University since 1980 and got a master’s degree of education in 1988.
He started his career as an artist in 1982 participating in thegroup show curated by TSUTAKA Waich in Hyogo. Next year his work wasselected in the “ YOSHIHARA Jiro Prize Exhibition ofContemporary Art” held in Osaka Contemporary Art Center.
In 1984 he attracted attention by his first solo exhibition in UtsuboGallery, Osaka by experimental installation combining painting andreal space.
In the same year he engaged a young emerging artistsgroup show “Yes Art” in Gallery Haku, Osaka.
In “Art Now '85” held in Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, he presented big environmental installation composed with painton many slendar boards.
After solo exhibition at Gallery Suzuki, Kyoto, he began to paint on sculptural wooden object. The form of thework comes to look alike a dish, flower, ship or muchroom grown up incomplicated shape.
Besides making presentation of new works in solo exhibition constantly, he has been selected in many group shows; “Trans Art Scene 2” curated by SHINOHARA Motoaki,art critic, in Gallery 16, Kyoto and “Nouvelle Vague inTsukashin part 2” in 1987; “Tempting Tableau” inGallery Haku in 1989; “Thougt about Curved Plane” inGallery Haku in 1991; “Tenri Biennale '95”; “Toriennale Osaka 1998”; “Vibration” inUtsunomiya Museum of Art in 2001; “Kyoto, Paintings ofToday” in The Museum of Kyoto and “As If They WereCultivated” in The Museum of Modern Art, Wakayama in 2003; “Looking for Utopia” in The Niigata Bandaijima Art Museum in 2005.
