The acquisition of the Castle by the Savoy Family transformed the structure into a royal residence used exclusively during the summer.
Certain zones (the Ballroom and the Galleries) cannot be heated.
Other rooms are fitted with large marble fireplaces.
The first fireplaces were installed in the castle during the era of Queen Maria Cristina di Borbone. They were made of ceramic materials produced in Castellamonte.
At the end of the 1800’s heating with large marble fireplaces was completely abandoned in favour of small pleasant ceramic fireplaces or stoves made of the well known and widespread clay of Castellamonte.
The new system, which allowed for a higher thermal yield, was located near the primitive fireplaces so as to be able to use the existing exhaust pipes.
All of the stoves and fireplaces installed in the official rooms are varnished white on the surface
Dark coloured stoves and fireplaces, with the characteristic fake wood treatment are present in areas with a lesser monumental impact.
