The Town Hall
A BUILDING WITH PORTICOS BUILT IN 1847

The Town Hall The Town Hall

This is the only building in the town that looks like an actual "palace".

Built from the drawings of the engineer Melchioni in 1847, it has characteristics of peaceful nobility that are such that it happily fits in with those of the urban setting that it is part of.

The structural base is academic and the external formal components of the palace define its official function as the headquarters of the municipal administration.

The façade on Via Principe Tommaso is porticoed like the rest of the buildings.

Eight well proportioned pillars with a square section uphold the arcade with large sail vaults articulated and divided by large round lowered elliptical arches.

On the left hand side of the building two marble plaques recall those who died in the Wars of Independence (1840-1870) and the victims of the Second World War (1939-1945).

A marble plaque under the portico beside the entrance door bears witness to the restoration works of 1963.

The paving of the portico was restored during 2004.

Engineer Melchione is also responsible for the plans for the second wing of the Municipal Building of Strambino.
